Owner and former television set designer, Katie Clarke has exercised her clearly considerable talents on the hotel and created something very special indeed. The beautiful original Georgian ballroom with its hand-painted silk panellings and elegant chandeliers can seat 75-100 and is licensed for civil ceremonies, whilst the elegant 16th century Benson Room is an attractive alternative for smaller ceremonies of up to 40. The enthusiastic team at The George are passionate about helping couples create a bespoke event with an emphasis on individual charm, even going so far as to arrange for a special blend of tea for one couple's favours recently. Other ideas include arriving and departing in style with classic car hire for the duration of your stay - nothing cures a hangover better than a coastal spin in an open top classic E-type Jag! Or get married life off to a 'flying start' with a flying lesson over Beachy Head in a 4-seater plane.

The team at The George inspires great confidence in an event to remember, somehow managing to combine an efficient and organised approach with an infectious enthusiasm for adding elements to ensure a unique event. An events manager is provided to act as a main point of contact for the couple prior to the big day and on the day itself. The manager will act as a toast master and can assist with the conception and implementation of bespoke elements in addition to couple's choice of one of the four core wedding packages offered. These range from £50-£85 according to the number of courses included and quantity and type of wine/champagne served. Midweek weddings include free room hire and a night in the very romantic honeymoon suite, plus preferential guest room rates. The George's acclaimed chef has created a range of elegant seasonal menus for wedding breakfasts and makes himself available for a complimentary tasting session with couples prior to the main event. If required, the Ballroom can be made available for an evening party with sophisticated buffet menus ranging from £12.50-£20 per head. At the end of the night up to 48 guests can be accommodated in the hotel's 24 indulgent bedrooms, each with Vi-Spring beds, Italian Frette linen, flat screen TVs and Tivoli clock radios, plus Lefroy Brooks bathrooms with marble top baths, power showers and Aveda toiletries. The wonderfully romantic honeymoon suite boasts a double walk-in shower.
