The Main Event...

Wedding celebrations usually span over a long weekend beginning with the wedding couple and close family arriving on Thursday afternoon for an informal dinner to discuss final arrangments. Friday morning is spent rehearsing the ceremony. From mid afternoon, guests begin to arrive and are greeted with tea and cake, or champagne cocktails on the terrace, beside the pool or in front of a roaring log fire. The evening begins with cocktails and canapés in the bar, a former 12th century chapel, with music care of the plasma screen juke box. A rustic French supper is served on the terrace or in the dining room.

The wedding day begins with a leisurely breakfast together after which guests can venture out on a wine tasting tour or to local markets. Ceremonies are usually held around 5pm at the local Mairie (town hall) or in the grounds of the Chateau followed by a leisurely champagne and canapé reception with jazz or classical musical ensemble. The wedding feast begins around 7pm and champagne toasts are accompanied by a fabulous ‘croquembouche’ a traditional French weddings cake tower of profiteroles. After a beautiful firework display in the gardens, the mirror ball starts to turn and the disco begins until whatever time you fancy. If you’re fussy about your music, Chateau Rigaud recommends bringing your own DJ with you. Most guests will fly home the next day, but for those who stay there’s a rustic dinner. If anyone has shot any film of the wedding, the Rigaud team will have burned it to DVD by now for you all to watch in the cinema.

Wedding Feast Options:
• Contemporary French cooking of several courses of your choice by local restaurant, La Poudette. All about formal elegance, white table linen, contemporary flowers, stylish place settings and smart beautifully presented food.
• The Rigaud Moroccan feast is for those who fancy something exotic and informal. A quite magical and sensuous atmosphere is created with up to 100 candles lighting the medieval passage ways and dining room. During the summer months, a carpeted seating area is created on the lawns with Turkish rugs, cushions and lanterns arranged around the ancient well cover which is spectacularly lit at night. Chef prepares a feast of middle eastern meze dishes.
• A spectacular barn venue is planned for summer 2008
